Speakeasies were the worst -hated secrets of prohibition. When the prohibition came into force on January 17, 1920, many thousand formerly former legal pubs across the country, which were only open to men. People who wanted to drink had to buy spirits from licensed pharmacists for "medical" purposes, clergymen for "religious" reasons or illegal sellers, so -called bootlegger. Another option was to enter private, non -licensed bar spaces that wore the nickname "Speakease" because the "password" had to be said to be given access so as not to be overheard by the law enforcement authorities. Take space on our Speakeasy Bar stool and experience the turbulence again!
